It doesn't matter if Sunday is sunny or rainy because the Nevada County Concert Band will celebrate spring anyway by presenting a free concert at the First Baptist Church in Grass Valley.

Conductor Cheryl Sutton Baker has selected a repertoire that includes Sousa's "The Thunderer March," Grundman's "American Folk Rhapsody No. 4," Gould's "American Salute," Gershwin's "Little Rhapsody in Blue" and Moussorgsky's "A Night on Bald Mountain."

Baker is a choral, hand bell and orchestral conductor, vocalist, composer and hand bell clinician. She has been a music director at several Bay Area churches and a past director of the community ensemble, Bay Bells. Baker belongs to the Sierra Symphony, teaches music privately and is a substitute teacher in Nevada County.

First Baptist Church is at 1866 Ridge Road. Call 477-4787 or check out the Web at www.nccb.org for any questions about Sunday's 3 p.m. concert.
