Celebrating the Fourth all weekend-long. Here's what's going around Nevada County:
Today
Nevada City/Grass Valley
8 a.m. Flag-raising ceremony on the grounds of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, 615 Hollow Way, Nevada City. A speaker from the World War II era will be present, and a pancake breakfast will be served. Free. 432-3457 for more information.
7:30 p.m. Music in the Mountains Summer Festival of Classics features Happy Birthday USA outdoor picnic and concert. Tickets $16 for adults, free for children under 17. Information: 265-6124.
Marysville
11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hydroplane and power boat races at Ellis Lake (downtown). Free.
Tahoe
9 p.m. Fireworks display at Kings Beach State Park on the North Shore. Information: 546-7248.
Squaw Valley
Noon to 5 p.m. Old West stunts, living history demonstrations and Old West-style entertainment.
6 p.m. Pre-fireworks concert in The Village Events Plaza with No Bad Barley. Fireworks will follow, just after dusk.
Sunday
Nevada City/Grass Valley
10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fourth of July family celebration at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Entertainment includes pony rides, petting zoo, bounce house, craft show, country line and swing dancing, local bands and fireworks.
1 p.m. Pre-parade concert by the Nevada County Concert Band on Broad Street in Nevada City.
2 p.m. Fourth of July "United We Stand" Parade in downtown Nevada City beginning on Broad Street and ending on Coyote Street. Parade will showcase the Ophir Prison Marching Band, floats, horses, antique vehicles and other performers.
Colfax
7 a.m. Pancake breakfast at the Firehouse on Church Street.
10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Main Street activities includes art, crafts, food, dancing and music.
1 p.m. Lions Club Parade beginning at the flagpole on Main Street.
9 p.m. Fireworks.
Auburn
7 a.m. to noon. Fourth of July Old Town Celebration with pancake breakfast, children's games and prizes. Information: 823-3836.
3 p.m. Downtown parade.
Roseville

10 a.m. Parade begins at the three-way intersection of Vermon/Douglas/Riverside.

Truckee.
10 a.m. to noon. Hometown Pride parade beginning at Sierra Mountain Middle School and end on Commercial Row. Information: 587-2757.
10 a.m. Firecracker Mile Run/walk to raise funds for local cancer prevention fund at Tahoe Forest Wellness Community Center on 1024 Pine St. Call 582-3483.
