The 50-piece Nevada County Concert Band will perform an indoor concert Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Grass Valley.

Music will include the "Carnival of the Animals" and "The Nutcracker," as well as a "Gaelic Rhapsody" of favorite Irish tunes.

Small groups from within the band will also perform, such as a flute choir; a trio consisting of flute, clarinet and bassoon; a clarinet choir and an antiphonal double brass quartet - giving music students a chance to see and hear some lesser known instruments.

Seventeen-year-old band member Kristina Young will perform and conduct "Celebration" (from Mannheim Steamroller) for her senior project as part of the program. Enjoy free snacks at intermission.

While free, donations for this nonprofit are gratefully accepted. Log on to www.nccb.org for more information, e-mail the band at nccband@yahoo.com or call (530) 272-6228.

The concert is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the church on 1866 Ridge Road.
