The Nevada City council will meet next week in a second closed session to continue reviewing applications for the city manager's position, Mayor Sally Harris said Thursday.

Council members spent about 90 minutes Wednesday night studying the approximately 40 applications for the top position in city government, Harris said.

"We do have some qualified candidates," she added.

The council is looking for people who have experience as either a city manager or assistant city manager, the mayor has said in the past.

The council will meet in closed session either before or at the end of Wednesday's regularly scheduled meeting, Harris said.

The city is seeking a replacement for Mark Miller, who resigned earlier this year to take a job with Nevada County. The starting pay for the position is advertised as between $85,000 and $95,000 a year.
